About The Red House

Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears made The Red House their home in 1957 and we have two unique properties within the grounds of the house that you can stay in. Red Studio was originally built for their friend and artist Mary Potter in 1963 and the bungalow has been used as a creative retreat for artists over the years, while Cosy Nook was designed by architect Peter Collymore and is nestled behind the beautiful kitchen gardens. The Red House has been lovingly preserved and is open to visitors, where you can view a charming snapshot into Britten and Pears' life, take sanctuary in the five-acre gardens and view a selection of artworks from the couple's impressive collection. The Aldeburgh coast is also just a stone's throw away, where you can enjoy seaside walks.
