About Bookbinding Workshop
Rowan Collinson leads this hands-on bookbinding workshop, offering an introduction to traditional and contemporary bookbinding techniques used by artists, designers and photographers.
Participants will be guided through the fundamentals of book construction, including perfect binding, saddle stitch and stitched signatures. The session will also explore sequencing, narrative flow and the varied ways artists use books and zines to present and contextualise their work.
By the end of the workshop, you will have created at least two hand-bound sketchbooks using French Link Stitch and Japanese Stab Binding techniques, alongside a deeper understanding of how books can function as creative and conceptual objects.
Refreshments: We’ll provide all materials, along with plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits, cakes, and good conversation.
Accessibility: Please note that this workshop takes place in our upper gallery, which is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
Booking Information: Places are limited and early booking is strongly recommended.
