About Aldeburgh Music Club presents: An Evening with Mozart
The Solemn Vespers were written in Salzburg in 1780; far from solemn as their title implies, these psalm settings are full of glorious and exuberantly uplifting melodies. The Requiem in D minor was famously Mozart's last work, composed - and unfinished - just before his early death in 1791. Tonight's programme also includes the solo cantata, Exsultate, jubilate, written when the prodigy was just 16.
