About £2 Off When You Arrive Car-Free

Leave the car at home and save £2 on non-member entry to RSPB Minsmere. Show a valid train or bus ticket, a cycle helmet or a taxi receipt at the visitor centre.

Minsmere is a coastal nature reserve in Suffolk, made famous by BBC Springwatch. Its habitats offer views of the Suffolk coast, heaths and wetlands, and the wildlife changes through the seasons:

Spring: marsh harriers, avocets and adders

Summer: butterflies, mining bees and terns

Autumn: red deer, migrant birds and fungi

Winter: ducks, starling murmurations and golden sunsets

You can join volunteers on a guided walk, or take part in family activities during the school holidays. The café serves hot and cold snacks, cakes and meals, including cheese scones baked daily in the kitchen. Facilities include bike parking, a play area and baby changing.

Getting there without a car:

By train: go to Darsham or Saxmundham. The Connecting Communities bookable minibus can take you to the reserve for bus fare prices, Monday to Saturday (book on 01728 635938). You can also take a taxi from either station.

By bus: go to Leiston, then take a pre-booked taxi or the Connecting Communities minibus. You can also walk, as it’s about 4 miles.

By bike: National Route 42 and the Wolf Way cross the reserve’s entrance road, a one-mile detour from the Visitor Centre. Cycle racks are available there.
