About Steam Railway Day

After the ‘what might have been’ railbus month at the Middy, a return to steam hauled trains of vintage coaches. The duty loco will be Peckett 0-4-0 ST ‘May’ but there is every chance that we will be welcoming to traffic LNER Y7 no.985 due back ‘in ticket’ after a complete boiler overhaul at the Weybourne works of the North Norfolk Railway. 985 has been based with us for 10 years now and it will be great to have her running again.

Whichever loco is in operation today, they will be taking passengers to the full extent of the line through the Suffolk countryside to Aspall Halt and back. A trip you can take as often as you like with trains running between 10.30a.m. and 4.00p.m.

Also today is the annual visit of the East Anglian Practical Classic Car Club who will be bringing all sorts of vintage and wonderful vehicles from yesteryear and will be happy to show them off and answer questions.
